Looking for work

Feb 24, 2007 at 4:54 AM
Okay, I got the email stuff done that I wanted included. So now I need some ideas of what to work on next.

Anyone have a wish list?
Feb 24, 2007 at 5:05 AM
Well, I saw the list on the home page of what needs to be added.

What is everyone working on, as I don't want to step on anyone's toes, so to speak.

Hi Mnebinger (tonguetwister there)

I would like to see all events in Accordion. Currently working on that, but I could use some help.... (understated)
Got that working but I also would like to be able to open the correct pane directly from the Calendar. Just like you go from the Calendar with Hyperlink to Events_view.

Also with RSVP a msgbox (Ajax modal, or what's that other Ajax control called again?)
when you go over the limit or as a Submit-confirmation
would be nice.

Just some thoughts, trying to help you out here.... :-D

I can't seem to get the AJAX stuff to work. I think that might be a nice quick project.
Feb 24, 2007 at 2:56 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am going to take a look at the AJAX implementations and see if I can get them ironed out. I will need a little time to get aquainted with the project. Anything about project procedures I should know about?

I look forward to working with everyone on this.

Thanks,

Frank

I like the Email Addon, The version I wrote does not have the ability for attachments, I have over 50 users and I can say that most will want to see the ability for members to have the ability to Remove themselves from the mailing list.

I accomplished this using an EmailList Role. A better way would probably be to add an Emaillist column in the Member Info table.

If I could figure out this team explorer thing I will try to help.

Not really any procedures... just tell me when you have AJAX complete and I'll take a look at it and close the Work Item.

Here is something to look into, CantonFrank... obout AJAX Page Controls You might like to put it into the kit.
Feb 25, 2007 at 2:43 AM
I am working on the event calendar now. The event calendar is comming from a compiled assembly and manages it's own events. I am trying to get into the guts of that assembly now to see if I can break it apart and do a partial page update

You can get the source for the event calendar (C#) here:

Hi guys,

Are you after something really sophisticated or do you just want the months to be ajaxified?

For that I added this to the page:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="SM" runat="Server" EnableScriptGlobalization="true" />

<asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="upd1">
<ContentTemplate>

</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>

Just ajaxified. Thanks the goal. The only thing I would change is to have the update pannel display a loading image (Using a updateloadingpannel) I don't really know what the problem with my machine is, but I just can't get the AJAX stuff to work! I think I'm going to give it another run.
Feb 25, 2007 at 3:26 PM
Good idea,

This works. Not on your machine?

<asp:UpdateProgress Id="updpro" runat="server">
<Progresstemplate>
Updating...
<img src="images/loading.gif" />
</Progresstemplate>
</asp:UpdateProgress>

Now I have to find a good graph

Hi Guys,

The main problem with the ajax implementation is the setup with the web.config I have added the neccesary configuration elements and got calendar working like Lexvis's.

Do you want me to check them in?

Feb 25, 2007 at 4:12 PM
Is there a build version on the web?
Coordinator
Feb 25, 2007 at 4:17 PM
I set up a version based on Beta 1... I can update it. Is that what you mean?
Feb 25, 2007 at 4:21 PM
Na I just meant if there was a place to view the current state of the site that is checked in.

Also, can I suggest we figure out a way to coordinate our efforts so that people are not working on the same items at the same time. We should be able to maximize our efforts that way

There isn't a place currenly. We can get a free space at vwdhosting.net and everytime we make some changes send the site over via FTP.

Well, we can use the forums to coordinate that and also the work items are "assigned" so that can also be a way of coordination. Or you can leave a comment saying like "I'm workin on this!"

BTW... AJAX looks good! Thanks for doing that!
Feb 25, 2007 at 4:33 PM
We could also do somthing with the rollovers for each event maybe a gogle like popup of the description of the event?

Thats a nice idea... they have some of that on the ajax website http://ajax.asp.net

I am looking for the ie7 animated icon (new hourglass, you know what i mean? It's a blue spinning circle)
Want to see how it looks with Updateprogress.
Does anybody know where I can find that?

I personally use this:

Thank you,
But just for fun it would also be nice to use the exact same thing.
BTW
The way you get e-mail feminder from Codeplex:
not the complete link but just click here would be an improvement for the reminders from Club
For forum and Ical

To be honest I like it better when the page does not move with progress. That's one of the great benefits form Ajax.
I put one of your icons up on my testsite.

http://site368.mysite4now.com/lexvis/webs/events_calendar.aspx

Hope you don't mind me being a pain.

BTW, this Ajax stuff is so great you hardly see the icon at all. (though it probably will when the web congests)

Yea, I know! It's so quick! The only problem I have is it doesn't show right on top of the Calendar... that would be really cool.

AJAX is now complete in the latest build. File issues if you would like something else added.

Thanks CantonFrank for your web.config changes... where did you get those? Is it in the documentation? I was under the impression that is was just drag'n'drop.
