Role discussion

I am curious as to what rights each of the existing roles offer. I understand the admin role but what does the edititors role offer. I would like to have a role that would allow certain users the ability to create and edit news and events. How would I accomlpish this? Thanks.

This is what you do:
1) Create a role
2) Allow them to click "edit" and "remove" on the news/list, events/list, news/view, and events/view pages
3) Allow them access to the news/edit and events/edit by editing the web.config
4) Allow them to see the "add news" or "add events" in the various pages
